Description

  • A Ship Superintendent is responsible for overseeing day to day technical and operational issues pertaining to the assigned vessels.
  • He / She will report to the Project Manager.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for safety of life at sea, vessel and cargo for fleet assigned.
  • Critical role in Emergency Response Organization responding to any vessel casualty to ensure preservation of life and to maximum extent vessel and cargo under crisis conditions.
  • On call 24 hours/day, 7 days/week, to respond to assigned vessel casualties or other emergencies.
  • Supervise all vessel staff assigned to their vessels.
  • Supervise all technical management activities for assigned vessels.
  • Act as primary point of contact for customer (Technical Organization).
  • Responsible for assigned vessel performance metrics including budget, operating costs, reliability, and planning.
  • Responsible for Regulatory compliance on assigned vessels including Safety and Environmental Protection, Domestic and International Law, Regulation Policies, Procedures.
  • Where applicable comply with Nigerian laws or other agency rules, regulations, policies or requirements.
  • Performs other position related duties as specified by management

Profile

  • B.S. Degree from an accredited institution, Degree in Marine Transportation, Marine Engineering or equivalent time / experience at sea is required.
  • Three years shipyard or ship management experience or equivalency.
  • Advanced Degree from an accredited institution in business, engineering or equivalent discipline is preferred
  • Full Field Shutdown Experience mandatory
  • Computer literacy in PC and systems
  • Excellent interpersonal skills required for conducting day to day business.
  • Vessel management experience.

Candidate criteria:

  • Minimum level of experience required:6 years or more

Required authorisations:

  • Marine engineering or equivalent time / experience at sea is required.

Languages:

  • English (E-Native or bilingual proficiency).
